Your New Pool Is on the Way: Here’s What Happens Next

You’ve made the splash-worthy decision to bring a pool home. Now it’s time to get ready for installation day!

At The Great Escape, our team is here to walk you through every step—from site preparation to final inspection—so your pool experience starts off smooth. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: The Pre-Installation Call 📞

After your pool purchase, you’ll receive a call from our installation coordinator to schedule your pool delivery and installation. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and discuss any special considerations for your yard or access.

Step 2: Prepare Your Yard 🏠

Before we arrive:

  • Clear access to the backyard and installation site

  • Remove any debris, branches, or furniture from the work area

  • If you have pets, make arrangements for a safe space during installation

Pro Tip: Mark your gas, water, and electric lines before digging begins.

Step 3: Pool Delivery + Unloading 🚚

On delivery day, we’ll drop off the pool walls, liner, pump, filter system, and accessories at your home. Please keep the area accessible so our team can unload safely.

Step 4: Installation Begins 🛠️

Depending on your pool type (steel wall or resin, round or oval), the installation will vary—but here’s a general timeline:

  • Day 1: Ground prep, leveling, and pool frame setup

  • Day 2: Wall assembly and liner installation

  • Day 3: Fill the pool and install the pump, filter, and skimmer

⏳ Installation typically takes 1–3 days depending on the pool size and weather.

Step 5: Fill + Filter Start-Up 💦

Once the liner is secure, your pool will begin filling. A standard garden hose can take 6–24 hours to fill the pool, depending on its size.

When full:

  • Our team will install the filter system and check for flow

  • You’ll receive a basic overview of filter operation and maintenance

  • We’ll provide guidance on water care (or refer you to our spa & pool care tutorials!)

Step 6: Water Testing + Ongoing Support 🧪

After your pool is full and running, we recommend:

  • Testing your water with a home test kit or test strips

  • Bringing a water sample to your local Great Escape for free professional water analysis

  • Stocking up on chlorine, shock, and algaecide to get ahead of summer maintenance

Step 7: Jump In! 🎉

Once your water is balanced, your pool is ready to enjoy. Don’t forget to:

  • Set up your ladder or steps

  • Review your pool safety checklist
