Key Takeaways:

1. Assembling your vacuum system correctly is key to effective pool cleaning.

2. Priming the vacuum hose is essential for maintaining consistent suction during vacuuming.

3. Using a Hayward vac plate streamlines the process, ensuring your pool is free from dirt and debris.

Step-by-Step Process:

1. Assemble the Vacuum System:

  • Attach the telescopic pole to the vacuum handle by pushing the pole into the vac handle until the tabs pop into place.
  • Connect the swivel end of the vacuum hose to the vacuum head by firmly inserting it into the fitting on the vac head.

2. Install the Hayward Vac Plate:

  • Turn off the pump and remove the skimmer lid and basket.
  • Flex one of the tabs on the weir door inward to remove it.
  • Insert the vac elbow into the vac plate and lock it into place by turning it clockwise. Then, place the vac plate on top of the skimmer basket with the elbow facing the pool water.

3. Prime the Vac Hose:

  • Insert the assembled vacuum system into the pool.
  • Turn on the pump and hold the end of the vac hose in front of the return jet for 10 seconds to remove air and fill the hose with water.

4. Attach the Vac Hose to the Vac Plate:

  • While keeping the vac hose under water, push it through the skimmer and firmly insert it into the elbow of the vac plate.

5. Vacuum the Pool:

  • Using the telescopic pole, slowly move the vacuum along the bottom of the pool. The suction from the pump will lift dirt and debris into the skimmer basket and filter system.

6. Finish and Clean Up:

  • After vacuuming, turn off the pump, remove the vacuum system, and clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and filter system.
